At Heretaunga Christian Centre, we take the safety and wellbeing of your children very seriously. For this reason, along with providing clean and healthy learning environments, we insist that all people who work in any of our children’s ministries comply with the following two requirements:
We don’t appoint anyone to serve in children’s ministry until they have been a part of our church for a minimum period of six months. This gives us time to consider their character and conduct and just to get to know them
We police vet all adults 17 years and older and will only appoint those with a clear police record. As well as police vetting all new volunteers, we re vet all existing volunteers every 3 years.
During our main service we offer the following programmes for children.
A parent led ministry for babies/toddlers
through to 3 and a half years.
HCC crèche is run every Sunday for our babies and toddlers. A mixture of adults and teens serve in this ministry so that parents of children up to the age of 3 1/2 years can have the option of sitting in and hearing the message.
JUNIOR SUNDAY SCHOOL
A fun interactive introduction to Bible stories for
children aged 3 and a half to 6 years
Our aim is to teach Bible stories and truths in an exiting way, using many different techniques in order to help children learn. Using a Bible for Pre-schoolers, we cover a comprehensive range of Bible stories from the Old and New Testaments. We tell Bible stories using puppets, plays, reading, question time, and role play.
Our Sunday School time is structured with a welcome time, prayer, story, morning tea, craft activity, singing and games.
We encourage young children to want to know more about God, understanding that they can talk to Him through prayer and find out about Him in their Bible.
A programme catering for children aged 6 to 10 years
Our teachers are committed to teaching the truths of God's Word and applying these to the children by means of singing, Bible stories, follow-up activities, crafts and memory verse learning. Our programme includes both whole group and small group activities.
Parents are welcome to stay, but are not required to do so.
WORD OF LIFE
A Bible study for Intermediate age children
Our aim is to encourage children to grow in God's Word and to honour Him in their lives. All children are encouraged to look deeper into God's Word through reading the Bible aloud and participating in group discussions and activities.
We cover topic such as creation, the life of Jesus, parables, prayer and Proverbs. Memorizing key Bible verses is always encouraged, as is children's participation in prayer at the end of each session.
